A movement-informed consulting and training practice for people who design, build, and work in children's environments.
Most spaces designed for children are evaluated by what adults think children need. Moving Spaces starts somewhere different — with what children's bodies are actually doing, and what the space is making possible or preventing.
Using Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) and Parental Embodied Mentalizing (PEM™), I observe how children and caregivers move and relate within a space, and translate those observations into actionable recommendations.
A Two Part Framework
1) Observation:
Using LMA and PEM™ to read what is actually happening between children, caregivers, and the space. What movement qualities is this environment producing? What is it preventing? What are the relational dynamics telling us?
2) Application:
Translating movement observations into practical, neuroscience-informed recommendations for the spaces you already have. How can this environment better support play, regulation, and learning?

my work isn’t just focused on the body, but also how we can use its language as a support system to inform our ways of thinking into our everyday understanding.

more on laban movement anaylsis
laban movement analysis (LMA) is a theoretical and experiential system for the observation, description, prescription, performance, and interpretation of human movement.
there are four basic ways to describe movement:
1. body- what is moving
2. effort- why its moving
3. shape- how its moving
4. space- where its moving

certified movement analysis (cma) consulting
* offering insight to companies and organizations on ways to bring a sense of embodiment to their mission statements
* promoting innovative insight and inspire a sense of embodiment in companies that are focused solely on quantitive data.
apart from offering an added dimension to data analysis, i also use this framework in the film production space to provide assistance as a creative consultant with a unique perspective.
